Alice Brock may have thought of herself as a simple restaurant owner in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, but when Arlo Guthrie produced a song about her, 'Alice's Restaurant Massacree,' in the 1960's and Arthur Penn wrote a movie using her name, Alice's life would never be simple again.  The song is played as a ritual on Thanksgiving because Guthrie, the son of Woody Guthrie, was arrested for littering after leaving the restaurant.
